Frequently Asked Questions ...
1. Is there a
difference between male and female personalities?
No. Both males and females
have great personalities and temperaments. A great deal of a puppy's
personality development depends on the environment, care, and attention that
you provide.
2. Is
it easier to train a male or a female?
Males and females are very easy
to train, but you do have to take some time and provide attention.
Your puppy's natural instinct is to please you, and he wants your affection.
Use those instincts to your advantage to teach him.
Always reward good behavior with
lavish praise and possibly his favorite treat.
Scolding bad behavior is usually
sufficient to get the point across. It is never necessary to use
violent force to discipline your puppy.
Of course, training starts early
in the puppy's life with the basics - when to go outside, where to find food
and water, etc.
3. Will
you ship my puppy to me?
We use
Delta's Pet's First. We
chose them because they have VERY strict regulations about what kind
of puppy is being shipped and the environmental conditions your puppy will
experience while in transit. We want you to receive a healthy and
happy puppy .
4. At
what age do you wean the puppies?
Puppies are usually weaned by
5-6 weeks depending on the breed.
5. At
what age do you let the puppies go home with the new owners?
Puppies can usually go home with
their new families at around 7 or 8 weeks.
6. What
shots and wormer are given before the puppies leave?
Your puppy will have been wormed
with Panacur Liquid Wormer. All puppies receive their first shots, including
Parvo, at 6 weeks old.
7. Is
crate training recommended?
Sometimes, but ask us about the
NEW Exercise Pen method.
8. Can our new puppy
socialize with other dogs?
Puppies do not have full
immunity until all puppy shots have been given. We recommend that you wait
until your new puppy has received all of his shots.
9. Are
your dogs registered?
All of our adult dogs are registered through
the
American Kennel Club (AKC),
but our Malti-Tzu puppies (available in 2007)
will be registered through the
Continental Kennel Club (CKC).
10. Do
you require a deposit when I purchase one of your puppies?
Kay Hunnicutt Kennel requires a
NON REFUNDABLE $200.00 deposit, which will
HOLD a particular puppy for YOU. For that reason,
deposits are not refundable (except in that unlikely event
the puppy should die before pickup time. In that case, I will
certainly refund your deposit.)
Deposits
are taken in the order that they are received....so if you see a puppy you
like, send your deposit as soon as possible.
NO puppies are held without a deposit.
We will accept a Check,
Cash, or Money Order for the
deposit, but the balance of the Purchase Price must be paid in Cash or Money
Order when you pick up your puppy. To make deposit arrangements,
please call Kay Hunnicutt at (478) 737-0081, or email us at
kay@kayhunnicuttkennel.com
with your telephone number so that I can contact you.
